On 20 May 2025, the members of the Improve River LIFE project team took part in the LIFE Info Day, which was organised by the National Contact Point for the LIFE Programme for the opening of this year’s Call for Proposals.
No less than 105 potential applicants gathered in the Josip Juraj Strossmayer hall at the Hrvatske vode office building in Zagreb to express their interest in the project preparation and implementation in the framework of the most important European programme for environment and nature protection.
Our Improve River LIFE project was presented as an example of good practice – a successfully approved project whose activities integrate several objectives from the sub-programme “Nature and Biodiversity”. It is exactly such approach that enabled a greater competitiveness during the evaluation and, more importantly, ensured a significant contribution to the protection of nature, the local community and the conservation of the softmouth trout, our target fish species.
The representatives of the National Contact Point presented the LIFE Programme successes in Croatia to date and provided key information about this year’s Call for Proposals.
The participants had the opportunity to learn more about the co-financing opportunities through the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund and the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs. The experiences from other projects, LIFE PinnaCare (Aquarium Pula as Partner) and RefreshFish LIFE (Krka National Park as Coordinator), provided an additional value to the gathering.
