Representatives of the Improve River LIFE project participated in the LIFE Platform Meeting held on 14 and 15 October 2025 in Brussels. The event was organised by CINEA (the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency), with the support of ELMEN.

The meeting brought together representatives of 39 LIFE projects from 21 EU Member States, with the aim of exchanging experiences in the implementation of Strategic Integrated LIFE Projects (SIPs), as well as presenting methods and tools for the implementation of River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs) and relevant EU legislation. Discussions focused on the challenges of water body management and on policy and technical solutions for a more resilient and sustainable future.

The two-day programme included plenary sessions, thematic workshops and a field visit. Strategic LIFE projects focusing on the implementation of active measures to improve the condition of watercourses were presented. The workshops were interactive and addressed topics such as sustainable water resource management, nature-based solutions, digital tools and innovations, and funding sources. The Improve River LIFE project was presented through a poster and through the active participation of its representatives in workshops related to nature-based solutions and water resource management.

The hosts of the field visit were partners of the LIFE BELINI project. Activities were presented that involved cross-sectoral cooperation and the development of strategies for better management of degraded river conditions in urbanised areas, with the opportunity for on-site insight into the results.

💬 Participation in this event opened up new opportunities for knowledge exchange, experience sharing and networking among LIFE projects across Europe.
