On 23 April 2026, a meeting of project partners was held within the Improve River LIFE project (Institute for Environment and Nature Protection, Croatian Waters, Public Institution More i krš, and the Faculty of Science), accompanied by a field visit to key locations along the Jadro and Vrljika rivers.
The focus of the activities was on developing design solutions for the adaptation of existing barriers along selected river sections, as well as on aligning the next steps of implementation. The field visit provided direct insight into site conditions, which was essential for developing high-quality and feasible solutions.
During the visit, design options for adapting barriers were discussed, with the aim of improving river connectivity and enhancing habitat conditions for target species, while taking into account the specific characteristics of each location.
Following the field visit, a working meeting was held where key elements for the further development of technical solutions were agreed upon, and the next steps in project implementation were defined.
These project activities are not merely temporary interventions, but serve as a foundation for long-term and significant improvements in river connectivity at the national level.
